My Perfect System
There is a saying among management and engineering experts: “Your system is perfectly designed to yield the result you are getting.”
I am exactly where my actions have gotten me, and so are you. If you want something different for yourself, you first need to desire change—sitting down and counting the cost, as Luke 14 discusses, is a way to tell if you’ve got the willpower to move foward.
If you don’t, you’ll just end up back where you started. But counting the cost isn’t just about seeing how serious you are—you also need to know accurately where you’re beginning from. In other words, you need to know who you really are, because who you really are determines where you’re really starting.
It’s been better said, “You cannot sail to your desired destination if you don’t know where you are now.”
I know exactly who I am and who I want to be. I want to be a loving, stable protector, who keeps my mind engaged, not just in thinking about the meaning of life, but in helping others on a level deeper than I’m comfortable with.
I’ve been endeavoring to do things differently. I pray that I succeed.
With love, always,
—Luke
