Sinception: The Ineffable Horror of Becoming Lost in Your Lies
Inception was nifty movie in a way. The protagonists infiltrated people’s dreams and manipulated them, effectively making them a lie within a lie…within a lie. Each level of “lie” you went deeper, the greater the chance that you’d never find your way back to reality.
The same is true of sin. When we try to hide or keep a sin, we tend to pile on additional lies, building a foundation to prop up a facade that’s fake and rotten. It can even be possible for one to forget what the truth even is.
God warns,
“He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
—Isaiah 44:20
When sin is present, we’ve got to call it on the carpet and deal with it. If we don’t, we can eventually be so deceived that we believe our lies are actually truth. At that point, we’re so deep in a fake reality that we may never be able to resurface!
Let’s pray for courage to confess and address! (Well, at least I will! 😛 )
