You don’t lead by hitting people over the head—that’s assault, not leadership.

I didn’t get this for a very long time. In fact, I was for many years rather convinced that the stick probably worked better than the carrot. Ultimately, I probably did a ton of harm.
Before you decide to be brutally honest with people, make sure that you’re not enjoying the brutality more than the honesty.
