The Girl with All the Gifts
The female that I liked the most, when it was all said and done, was not super into what I was into. But she had one thing beyond all else: she was relentlessly positive, cheerful, and kind. In a way, she was the embodiment of the kind heart.
Proverbs 11 mentions that, “a kindhearted woman gains honor,” and of interest to me is that “honor” is more often translated as “glory.” The woman with the kind heart gathers glory.
As a somewhat critical man who is often too exacting, I can sure say that, in retrospect, it felt pretty glorious to be around the warmth of her presence. It was a life lesson that made me value her so much more, and has resulted in me seeking those who can help me become more gracious and kind.
If only I had appreciated that, and appreciated how much she appreciated me.
